Job Summary

The Agriculture Policy Fellow will be responsible for conducting research and analysis on agricultural policy issues relevant to Nigeria and other African countries. This role involves collaborating with our team to develop evidence-based policy recommendations and contribute to projects that integrate agricultural policy with emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research on agricultural policies and regulations across Africa.

  • Analyze complex agricultural policy documents and provide concise summaries and actionable insights.

  • Develop evidence-based recommendations for stakeholders, including policymakers, agribusinesses, and development organizations.

  • Collaborate on projects that explore the intersection of agricultural policy with emerging technologies such as digital agriculture and artificial intelligence.

  • Contribute to the expansion of Policy Vault’s agricultural policy repository by identifying, acquiring, and analyzing relevant documents.

  • Prepare high-quality reports, briefs, and presentations for internal and external audiences.

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders in government, academia, civil society, agribusinesses, and the private sector.

  • Monitor trends in agricultural policy development across Africa and provide timely updates on key issues.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in agriculture-related fields (e.g., Agricultural Economics, Agronomy), public policy, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex agricultural policy documents.

  • Excellent written communication skills with a proven ability to produce clear, concise, and impactful content.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience working collaboratively across diverse groups.

  • Familiarity with African agricultural policy landscapes, particularly Nigeria’s regulatory environment.

  • Experience or interest in agricultural policy analysis or rural development initiatives.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively.

Eligibility

This fellowship is ideal for:

  • Graduates with no more than three years of experience.

  • Current students pursuing advanced degree programs (e.g., master’s or doctoral studies).

  • Researchers on sabbatical looking to apply their expertise in agricultural policy.

Fellowship Details

  • Duration: Six months

  • Compensation: A monthly stipend of NGN 350,000

  • Opportunity for Conversion: Exceptional performance during the fellowship may lead to a full-time role at Policy Vault.

  • Work Location: Abuja, Nigeria, with flexible working arrangements available.
