The Policy on Disability of the Department of Social Development (DSD) focuses on the provision of integrated developmental social services, i.e. security, welfare and community development for people with disabilities. It aims to guide and inform the mainstreaming of disability in the development and implementation of all policies, strategies and integrated service delivery programmes of the department.

The Policy on Financial Awards to Service Providers in the social development sector is primarily aimed at ensuring that government, together with the non-governmental sector, and where appropriate, private sector organisations, achieve the mission of the department namely “to enable the poor, the vulnerable and the excluded within the South African society to secure a better life for themselves.

This policy framework has the objectives to ensure coordinated action at national, provincial, district and local level to realise the rights of orphans and other children made vulnerable by HIV and AIDS, their caregivers, families and communities and to ensure that legal, policy and institutional frameworks for the protection and promotion of the rights of affected children are implemented at all levels.

The goal of this policy is to provide an opportunity for the diversification of tourism products and the formalisation of the segment or niche of heritage and cultural tourism, towards contributing to the growth of tourism as outlined in the objectives of the National Tourism Sector Strategy 2011.

This is an Act to amend the Child Justice Act, 2008, so as to amend a definition, to further regulate the minimum age of criminal capacity, to regulate the provisions relating to the decision to prosecute a child who is 12 years or older but under the age of 14 years, to further regulate the proof of criminal capacity and to further regulate the assessment report by the probation officer.
