The regulations are subject to the agricultural product standards of 1990. They specify classes and standards, parking and marking requirements guiding the sale of garlic in South Africa. It specifically states that garlic shall not be sold except standards outlined in these regulations are met. The regulations are baseline standards for garlic sold in South Africa and not garlic for seed production purposes.

It is expressly stated that “no person shall export animal products from the Republic of South Africa unless quantities have been approved by the executive officer for that purpose”. It details application for approval of export, inspection guidelines and procedure, assessment of competence of testing laboratories involved in inspection, necessary fees, approvals and rejections, as well as an appeal process.

The notice provides for the development, establishment, and maintenance of electronic deeds registration system using information and communications technologies for the processes of handling deeds and documents. Directives to guide implementation of the notice is issued.

The statutory measure applies to pigs slaughtered by abattoirs for commercial use, and pigs exported live. It pushes to compel abattoirs and exporters of live pigs to keep records and report returns to the levy administrator. It sees this as a means to ensure the availability of information to all players in the industry, to enable them to make informed decisions. The measure lists out the records and returns to be kept and submitted. The levy administrator, assisted by the Red Meat Levy Admin Ltd, shall administer the measure.

The statutory measure applies to potatoes. The levies collected shall be used for the development of the potato industry, in the areas of basic and applied research, market information analysis, creation of market impact, and the expansion of human capital development. 70 percent of funds shall go into core business functions, 20 percent shall be used for transformation, and not more than 10 percent shall be utilized for administration purposes.

This regulatory document emphasizes that no person shall catch or attempt to catch any Antarctic marine living resources protected by the Convention on the conservation of Antarctic marine living resources unless authorised by means of a permit issued by the associating minister.

The treaty reintegrates Walvis Bay into the Republic of Namibia and abolishes the prior agreement between South Africa and Namibia on the joint administrative authority of the Bay. This is done in the common interests of the people of both nations, and as a means to strengthen friendly relations.

The regulations apply to all special nature reserves, national parks, and world heritage sites in South Africa; it also applies to marine protected areas that have been included in a special nature reserve, national park or world heritage site. Among others, it lays out details relating to biodiversity management and conservation in these areas; use of biological resources of national parks and world heritage sites; access; commercial activities allowed; use of water areas, land, and airspace; bioprospecting; norms and standards; and general prohibitions.

An amendment to the convention on international trade in endangered species (CITES) regulations of 2010. Alterations centre around powers and duties of the management authority, import and export of specimens, issuance of permits and certificates, and fees payable.

The regulations and its amendments are under the plant improvement act of 1976. The amendment substitutes the fees payable table.

The amended regulations operate under the plant breeders’ rights act of 1976. The table detailing fees payable with respect to plant breeders’ rights: 1 April 2008, is substituted.

Water conservation and demand management in the National Strategy Framework includes the protection of water resources and thus the management of water quality. This strategy identifies opportunities to reduce unnecessary water use and improve efficiency and provides guidance to stakeholders in the forest sector on achieving conservation and demand management.

The notice operates under the national environmental management: integrated coastal management act of 2008. A “public launch site is defined as a site where a vessel may be launched by members of the public in the coastal zone, but excludes a privately used launch site”. It is directed that the management authority shall list public launch sites where vessels can be launched, and identify a management body responsible for overseeing the affairs of each site.

The amendment makes changes related to persons required to keep records and returns reports, the specific records to be kept, and names and particulars of import and export mechanisms to be employed.

The rules are subject to the veterinary and para-veterinary professions act of 1982. It contains a definition of services allowed to be executed by animal health technicians, and their principles of professional conduct. They also specify the procedures that may be performed on animals by animal health technicians without veterinary supervision.

The regulations implement the alien and invasive species component of the national environmental management: biodiversity act with regards to their control. The minister of environmental affairs shall be the issuing authority for permits related to carrying out restricted activities on aliens and invasive species. Activities termed restricted are highlighted.

The act provides for control over the sale and export of certain agricultural products and other related products. It is expressed that the minister in charge of agriculture may prohibit the sale of a prescribed product that fails to meet specified class and grade, quality standards, guidelines for marking, labelling, and packing, and required product content.
