The Mini Drug Master Plan (MDMP) has an overarching goal to reduce the health, economic and social burden caused by substance abuse in South Africa, through the provision of targeted demand and harm reduction interventions provided by the National Department of Health, thereby supporting the implementation of the National Drug Master Plan.

This document aims to facilitate the management and control of leprosy in South Africa through internationally accepted and country appropriate means. The primary objective of these guidelines is to provide healthcare practitioners with information on the most appropriate interventions for people entering malaria-affected areas. It provides information on non-drug measures to prevent mosquito bites, determining whether chemoprophylaxis is indicated, selecting the most appropriate chemoprophylaxis to use, including the interactions between malaria chemoprophylaxis and other drug treatments, and the benefits and risks of alternative chemoprophylactic agents.

An amendment of the Disaster Management Act of 2002. among others, the amendment relates to; clarification of policy focus; alignment of functions of management bodies; providing for security personnel to assist in disaster management efforts; strengthening reporting on monitoring and evaluation efforts; providing for the inclusion of traditional leaders in management activities; and declaration and classification of disasters.

The government acknowledges the essential nature of critical infrastructures for public safety, national security, and basic public services. The act applies to the identification and declaration of critical infrastructure; the determination of critical infrastructure; and the protection of critical infrastructure. The act does not apply to infrastructures under the control of the department of defence.

The main purpose of the guidelines on maternity care is to give guidance to health care Workers providing obstetric and anaesthetic services in clinics, community health centers and district hospitals. It provides summary of key recommendations from the saving mothers report 2002-2004.

The notice amends the medicines and related substances act of 1965. “Among others, it provides for the appointment of one or more Deputy Registrars; it provides for a term of office of members of the Pricing Committee; it provides for the delay of the coming into operation of provisions requiring a licence before a person can compound and dispense or manufacture medicines, or act as a wholesaler or distributor, and it provides for regulations relating to the marketing of medicines”.

These guidelines have been compiled using both international and local information to prevent mortality; prevent disease progression and development of severe malaria, reduce morbidity; eliminate parasitemia and stop further transmission and limit the emergence and spread of drug resistance.

The regulations are subject to the foodstuffs, cosmetics, and disinfectants act of 1972. It stipulates limitations related to the use of processed foodstuffs for human consumption.

These guidelines provide a mechanism for the standardization of clinical education in nurse training in South Africa. The document provides the re-establishment of clinical education and training platforms in health establishments/facilities to standardize the content and quality of clinical nursing education and management.

It also provides organized procedures that health caregivers (clinicians, midwives, nurses and skilled attendants) should follow to ensure competencies and administrative necessities/support (equipment, drugs, human resources) for obstetric condition

The Act sets out provisions along the value chain of medicines and medical devices manufacturing, import and export and prescription of medical substances. It relates to medicines intended for both human and animal use.

This policy aims to promote high standards of practice in the recruitment and employment of health professionals who are not South Africans or permanent residents. It aims at precluding the active recruitment of health professionals from developing countries unless there are specific government to government agreements to allow and support such recruitment.

This regulatory document emphasizes that no agricultural product shall contain seeds of Crotalaria species, Datura species or Ricinus communis in measures greater than one seed per 1000g; and seeds of Argemone mexicana L., Convolvulus species, Ipomoea purpurea Roth., Lolium temulentum and Xanthium species in measures greater than seven seeds per 1000g.

The regulations are relevant to the Disaster Management Act of 2002, and the declaration of national disaster published in the government gazette in March 2020. The regulations amend the national disaster publication; it inserts chapter-specific definitions for clarity of context. It addresses issues related to the conduct and options of COVID-19 confirmed and suspected persons, restrictions on movements of goods and persons during the lockdown, prohibition of public transport, and resources by the state during the lockdown.
