Godson Ogheneochuko

Godson Ogheneochuko is a Principal Advisor at Dev-Afrique Development Advisors. He is responsible for leading the firm’s public policy practice, including directing the affairs of Policy Vault Inc, a non-profit organization that provides access to hard-to-reach government policies, laws and regulations in Africa, as well as investment guides in African countries.

Prior to joining Dev-Afrique, Godson worked at British American Tobacco, as Senior External Affairs Manager, where he advised the business and engaged governments across the Anglophone countries in West Africa, especially Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and Gambia, on regulatory and fiscal issues. These include manufacturing-related regulations, import and export, foreign exchange, excise duties and other taxes, trade agreements, tariffs, transit regulations and anti-illicit trade strategies and management, etc. He also developed and implemented strategic public affairs campaigns to shape policies, in addition to building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, as well as managing the company’s reputation.

Godson also worked closely with his counterparts in Cameroun, Benin, Niger, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, Congo DR, South Africa, etc. to manage key business issues. Godson is passionate about public affairs and believes that it is essential for businesses and individuals to be engaged in the public policy process.

Besides being a public affairs specialist, Godson is also a lawyer with 18 years of post-call experience. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and attended the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, before his call to the Nigerian Bar. Godson also holds a postgraduate certificate in the Mechanics of Project Finance from the International Faculty of Finance in partnership with Middlesex University, London. Godson began his career at Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie (“UUBO”), one of the biggest and reputable commercial law firms in Nigeria. During his 10 years at UUBO, he specialised in a range of corporate matters including Corporate Advisory, Real Estate and Construction, Telecommunications, Media and Technology, Cybersecurity, Mergers & Acquisitions, Aviation, etc. He is based in Lagos, Nigeria.
