The regulations implement the provisions of the development facilitation act of 1995.

It is stated that; an environmental impact report shall be prepared by applicants. The contents mandated to be in the report include; details of the proposed activity, including purpose, requirements, and extent; applicant’s details; details of other people involved; if the activity is part of a greater scheme; date of submission; and plan and sections of the activity.

The regulations make provisions for a general prohibition on the recreational use of vehicles in the coastal zone; identify procedures for approving the use of vehicles in the coastal zone under specific circumstances; and stipulate measures for the enforcement of these regulations and prescribe penalties in respect of contraventions. Persons who use vehicles within the coastal zones must ensure usage does not cause harm to the environment; and in cases where harm is authorised or unavoidable, must be minimized.

The regulations implement the provisions of the genetically modified organisms act of 1997, with respect to applying for permits to conduct activities concerning genetically modified organisms, and risk assessment of such activities. Procedures during accidents involving genetically modified organisms are also provided.

The notice serves as an assignment to provinces under the mountain catchment areas act in accordance with the relevant section of the Constitution of South Africa.

The regulations make provisions for the importation of controlled goods through the application for, and issuance of permits, specification of ports of entry of such goods, and inspection process.

The notice publishes the list of all protected trees belonging to particular species specified in the schedules. The statutory measure sets out to provide developmental support to the National Lucerne Trust in the form of funds for research projects, market information, trade and market access, and information technology transfer. The measure hopes to promote the efficiency of lucerne hay and seed marketing. The measure applies to lucerne. The payment of levies, amount, persons by whom levies are payable, and administration of levies are established by the measure.
