This is an old document that discusses agricultural production, marketing, sustainable utilization of natural resources, financing and institutional infrastructure in South Africa. An amendment to Schedule 2 of the Maritime Zones Act of 1994 by substituting the grouped coordinates outlined in the act.

The Act amends the deeds registries act of 1937, the KwaZulu land affairs act of 1992, the land and assistance act of 1993, and the land rights act of 1994. It provides for the deeds registries regulations board, to make regulations regarding how the payment of the fees of office may be enforced.

The notice substitutes obsolete definitions, for textual correctness and to ensure legal certainty.

The regulations are subject to the agricultural product standards of 1990. They specify classes and standards, parking and marking requirements guiding the sale of litchis in South Africa. It specifically states that litchis shall not be sold except standards outlined in these regulations are met; imported litchis may be exempted provided they meet stated guidelines too. The regulations are baseline standards for litchis sold in South Africa, and not potatoes for seed production purposes.

These Regulations impose a levy on players in the potato industry for purposes of funding: efforts to enhance empowerment and development of industry players; consumer protection measures; and research and development. The levies collected under this measure will be paid into the Potato Industry Development Trust.

The regulations implement the provisions of the farm feeds, agricultural remedies and stock remedies act of 1947. It lays out the registration standards and guidelines for organic and inorganic fertilizers, and the rules for fertilizer manufacturing, handling, and packaging among others.

The notice represents the prohibition by the minister for the removal of regulated agricultural products imported for sale in the Republic of South Africa from the ports of entry specified in the schedules, or other places determined by the executive officer. Exemptions to the prohibition are; consignment of products that have been inspected, graded, and sampled for quality control; and products for which written permission for the removal of a particular quantity of such product has been granted.

The notice is made under the environment conservation act of 1989. It identifies the activities that pose substantial detrimental effect on the environment in the specific coastal area under review.

The notice represents efforts to fulfil South Africa’s commitment to the World Trade Organization’s Marrakesh Agreement as it relates to market access. Market access permits will be issued for products specified in the schedules of this notice.

The vision of the Integrated Food Security Strategy is for all South Africans to attain food security. The strategic objectives to realize this goal and the vision of the Integrated Food Security Strategy are to increase household food production and trading; improve income generation and job creation opportunities, improve nutrition and food safety; increase safety nets and food emergency management systems and improve analysis and information management system.

The regulations, among other things: set out institutional requirements for the establishment of municipal planning tribunals; provide for monitoring of tribunals; provide with respect to submission of land development and land use applications and decisions relating to such applications by municipalities. Municipalities are allowed to create a joint municipal planning tribunal by agreement.

The Regulations implement the provisions of the Co-operatives Act of 2005 as regards electronic registration services for cooperatives, and matters regarding the registration and inspection of documents lodged with the registrar.

This plan identifies six strategic goals to be implemented over the medium term through strategic action programmes. The goals include achieving increased profitable production of food, fibre and timber products by all categories of producers; sustained management of natural resources; effective national regulatory services and risk management systems; a transformed and united sector; increased contribution of the sector to economic growth and development; effective and efficient governance.
