The stock remedies regulations pertain to issues surrounding registration processes, labelling and containers, advertisements, manufacturing establishments, sampling and permissible deviations, handling, disposal, and storage of stock remedies, imports, and appeals.

The entire Agulhas front marine protected area is zoned as a single restricted zone which is determined by using the World Geodetic System (WGS) of 1984. The regulations stipulate that no scientific research within the protected area shall be carried out except with a research permit issued by the Minister. The regulations are subject to the agricultural product standards of 1990. They specify classes and standards guiding the sale of tomatoes in South Africa. It specifically states that tomatoes shall be fit for human consumption and not contain chemical residues that exceed the prescribed maximum limit.

The regulations classify wheat as soft and other, and it spells out the standards for classification. A consignment of wheat is classified as soft if it contains at least 95 percent (m/m) of one or more of the soft wheat seeds; otherwise, a consignment is classified as other.

The statutory measure applies to cotton lint. A levy is imposed on all-cotton lint ginned by ginners from seed cotton. This is to provide financial support for rendering information to industry players, promotion of cotton production and use, coordination of research, and maintenance of quality standards.

The Encephalartos species are the most threatened plant group in South Africa, with a significant portion of the group designated as critically endangered and others extinct. The species group is challenged by the illegal removal of adult wild plants to meet private collection needs. The management plan seeks to ensure the sustainable survival in nature of the Encephalartos species.

The statutory measure is subject to the marketing of agricultural products act of 1996. It applies to table olives and olive oil obtained from domestic consumption and/or imports; It states that: “A person shall have a choice to register as either a producer or as an importer or as a processor. A person who is a producer, as well as an importer and/or processor, must register as a producer and as an importer and/or processor”. The measure is administered by HORTGRO services, and it compels parties to keep records and render returns, to ensure a level playing field in the industry.

The notice of the minister states that; “no foodstuff which has been irradiated shall be sold unless the Minister or the Director-General has in writing, approved the sale of such irradiated foodstuffs. It defines irradiation as a deliberate exposure to ionising radiation.

This amends the environmental impact assessment regulations of 2014; subject to the national environmental management act of 1998. The amendments relate to the appointment of environmental assessment practitioners, competent authorities’ right of access to information, and submission and consideration of an environmental impact assessment report, among others.

Land Redistribution for Agricultural Development is designed to provide grants to black South African citizens to access land specifically for agricultural purposes. The strategic objectives of the sub-programme include: contributing to the redistribution of 30 % of the country’s agricultural land over 15 years, improving nutrition and incomes of the rural poor who want to farm on any scale, de-congesting overcrowded former homeland areas; and expanding opportunities for women and young people who stay in rural areas.

An amendment to the expropriation act of 1975 which refines certain sections and expressions. It also grants expropriation powers to ministers responsible for land and works affairs.
