Executive Order (On the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme) of 2017

This Executive Order permits the Federal Ministry of Finance to set up a Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (hereinafter referred to as “the Scheme”) for all categories of taxpayers who have defaulted in payment of taxes due and collectable subject to the fulfilment of the terms and conditions that are stipulated in this Order and other subsequent complementary regulations. The scheme encourages and provides an opportunity for eligible taxpayers to regularize their tax status for all the relevant years; pay all outstanding taxes; prevent and stop tax evasion; and ensure full tax compliance.

This is an act to regulate the importation of live fish, and for purposes connected therewith. It provides for the control of the import of live freshwater fish. It emphasizes that no person shall import any live fish into Nigeria except under the terms of a license under this act granted to him or her by the Minister, or in transit under prescribed conditions. A license may be granted either unconditionally or subject to such conditions (including conditions relating to the fish when dead) as the Minister considers expedient for avoiding the incidence or spread of disease or parasitic states among live fish in waters from which he considers that fish may be caught for consumption in Nigeria.

An Act to make provisions for the establishment and licensing of mortgage institutions to grant loans and advance to individuals for the purchase or construction of a dwelling house; improvement or extension of an existing dwelling house; and to accept savings and deposits from members of the public and to pay interest thereon. This act provides for the licensing of mortgage institutions and lays down rules for mortgage businesses by licensed mortgage institutions. If any company intends to carry on mortgage business in Nigeria, it shall apply in writing through the Federal Mortgage Bank to the Minister for the grant of a license in accordance with the following provisions of this act. Every mortgage institution shall submit to the Federal Mortgage Bank such returns as specified. The Federal High Court shall have jurisdiction to try all offences created under this act.

The regulations provide that the Minister of Transport may respect the blue and the red ensigns, but not otherwise, make regulations prescribing) recommended proportions for the ensigns, appropriate to the size of the ship, special occasions on which the blue ensign may be worn by ships not owned by any of the governments of Nigeria, and the form of warrant of authority with reference to the wearing of the blue ensign.
